Opening Times

Please ring or email to arrange a time for viewings. I am flexible regarding check-in and collection times and will fit in with you as best I can.

If you're running late for any reason then please let me know as soon as possible. I totally appreciate that life doesn't always go to plan (if only!) and I'm more than happy to make allowances as long as you contact me to let me know you're running late.

If you're boarding with me and over half an hour late for drop off or pick up without contacting me, then I reserve the right to charge an extra £5 for every 15 minutes you're late.

From the 1st January 2019 I will not be taking drop off's or pick up's for boarding on a Sunday. Boarding bunnies will need to be dropped off /picked up on Saturday or Monday.

Booking & Payment For Boarding

All provisional bookings for boarding will be held for 7 days, to secure your booking I require a completed booking form which is available by clicking here. Upon receipt of your booking form I will contact you by email to confirm the details of your booking. If you have any questions regarding the booking process, then please do contact me.

A deposit of £10 is required at the time of booking to secure your reservation. If for any reason you need to cancel your reservation, this deposit is non-refundable.

The balance in full will be required when you drop off your pet(s) or alternatively you can pay the balance at the time of booking.

The daily rate includes the day you drop your pet off at Derrick's Den and the day they depart.

I accept payment by cash or bank transfer.

Booking and Payment for Bonding

All bookings for bonding will be held provisionally for a maximum of seven days, pending payment of a deposit. If I don't receive a deposit then I will endeavour to contact you to see if you want to go ahead with the booking.

If payment of the deposit isn't received or I don't receive a reply on contacting you then your provisional booking will be cancelled and offered to someone else.

Drop off and Pick up

Being prompt for drop off and pick up times (by appointment only) is much appreciated. We are busy people and our free time is very precious so it is much appreciated that you stick to agreed times.

Obviously sometimes things go wrong and if you are running late for any reason please telephone to let me know on 07513140807.

If your pet is already boarding with us, and you wish to collect your pet earlier than the date originally provided, you are still liable for the full boarding costs.

If you wish to extend their stay and we can accommodate the extra period, payment will be required on your return. If you do not collect your pet on the agreed day without prior arrangement then you will be charged for any extra days at £20 per day.

Cancellations

Any cancellations within 72 hours of check-in date will incur full boarding costs, unless we are able to board another pet at short notice.

Non-collection

If pet/s are not collected within 7 days of agreed date and we have not heard from you, we will assume you have abandoned your pet/s and will commence legal proceedings to recover continuing boarding costs. If after 14 days we are still unable to contact you, we reserve the right to have your pet re-homed.

Food

Please ensure you supply us with sufficient quantity of your pet/s dry mix on check-in to cover their stay with us.

Shared Hutches

Rabbit sharing a hutch which show any signs of aggression will be separated for the safety and well-being of all pets. Owners of pets requiring separation will be liable for the additional boarding costs. We will endeavour to keep companions together but if fighting and injuries occur we have to put your pets safety and wellbeing first.

Un-neutered Pets

We will not board pregnant pets. Any female that gives birth while in our care will remain with us along with her litter until weaned for the safety of the pets. Owners will incur additional boarding costs.

Vaccinations

We will not accept rabbits for boarding unless they are fully vaccinated against Myxomatosis, VHD (viral haemorrhagic disease) and VHD2. Proof in the form of valid up-to-date certificate produced at time of check in is required, animals without proof of vaccinations will be refused boarding.

Health & Illness

If your pet becomes ill whilst in our care we will inform you immediately. If we are unable to contact you we will obtain veterinary treatment for your pet and proceed in their best interest. Should your pet/s need veterinary attention we will endeavour to transport them to your nominated vet (if in area) or our vet for treatment.

We are fully insured with PetPlan Sanctuary. This covers emergency vet fees up to £350. Documents may be seen on request. Please click here for more information.
Sadly small animals can pass away with very little warning and it can be very quick after showing signs of illness. In the unlikely event that this should happen in our care, we will contact you immediately to discuss your wishes.

Whilst under our care your pet will be looked after as if they are one of our own, but unfortunately we cannot be held responsible for any injury, illness, loss or death to any animals whilst on our premises.

All pets are left entirely at the owners risk.

Derrick's Den does not accept liability in the unlikely event that this may happen. Unlike dog and cat kennels, small animal boarding does not require a licence or have the same rules and regulations.

Any existing medical conditions must be discussed prior to the stay of your pet, each case will be taken into account. If your pet does have any medical problems, illnesses or injuries, please provide the details of their condition and any treatment/medication that is required.

We will not accept any pet that is showing signs of any undisclosed illness, disease or injury.

Bonding Service

I will not bonded un-neutered rabbits. Hormones in both male and female rabbits can play havoc in a relationship, resulting in fighting and injury.

Rabbit's must be neutered for the minimum of eight weeks before bonding. This allows their hormones to fully disperse and ensures that any mounting, biting or possible fighting is due to establishing dominance and is not sexually orientated.

Whilst under my care all pairs/groups of rabbits that I take on with the intention of bonding, will have constant supervision for at least the first 48 hours, longer if necessary.

During this time I am able to tell if the bonding will be successful.

I take NO responsibility for any injuries caused during the bonding process and any injuries caused that require veterinary treatment, you as the owner will be responsible for the payment of these costs.

Although I take every precaution possible to avoid injuries even with 48 hour supervision injuries are possible.

Please note: my PetPlan insurance does not cover any injuries sustained through bonding.

The bonding process can be very stressful and both rabbits must be 100% healthy.

As the owner you are responsible for making sure your rabbit is fit and healthy before bonding.

No refunds will be given once your rabbits return home.
